It is stunning to think that the McCain–Palin campaign would continue to stoop to music piracy, particularly after the repeated embarrassments. Then again, this is the same campaign that comes up with each new theme and slogan by simply stealing them from its adversary. Senator Obama seems to trust the voting public to be able to discern the dishonesty of Senator McCain’s mimicry. The recording artists are putting their faith in the courts. I love carousel’s myself, especially the twilight zone like quality they have. I have an interesting image of the Prospect Park carousel on my blog. Give it a whirl….btw…fyi, Prospect park was designed by the same guy who did Central Park and it’s just as stunning.

Nitzsche was a fantastic talent…his production and arranging on Buffalo Springfield’s “Expecting to Fly” (actually just a collaboration between him and Neil Young during a time when the latter was on the outs with the Springfield) made it one of THE psychedelic masterpieces of the ’60s — in fact, “psychedelic” is too reductive a term to describe that song.

Excellent mix! I’m listening right now. Always happy to dig up good ’70s pop, so the Lewis Taylor song is manna. There’s a song on the new My Morning Jacket (“Thank You Too!”) that so marinates itself in ’70s production tricks (strings, lush harmonies, pinging appregios, etc.) I get all gooey when I listen to it even while recognizing how obvious and facile it really is.
