Bio

Jessica Thompson is an audio engineer who has: mastered a lot of records; archived the collections of individual artists and record labels; edited, edited, edited; gracefully removed clicks, crackles, pops, thumps, lip smacks, chair squeaks, teeth hitting microphones, 16k hum, tape flutter, groove distortion, and pretty much any possible audio aberration; stayed up most of the night hand-winding a reel of very precious analog tape that was missing its flanges; advocated using the best quality A/D/A converters available as a panelist at the Future of Music Conference in Montreal, Quebec. As a radio producer, she has interviewed drummer Max Roach and the organ player at Fenway Park. She has spun records and CDs on WGBH, WFMU, WZBC and WESU.

Jessica has worked at The Magic Shop, The Lodge Mastering, Peerless Mastering, WGBH Radio, and The ARChive of Contemporary Music.

She wrote her master’s thesis on digital manipulation of the voice for The New School.

She just started taking guitar lessons and plays a gorgeous 1968 Gibson B-15.
