  • June 2010 — iTunes just released a benefit compilation – Elysium: A Benefit for the Art of Elysium – curated by Elijah Woods, mastered by me, featuring 20 awesome bands including Sonic Youth, Sleigh Bells, Oh No Ono, and more.
  • May 2010 — Wolfgang’s Vault called me up to master and restore a treasure trove of concerts from the Newport Jazz and Folk Festival. This stuff is HOT. Take a step back in time and swing with Thelonius Monk from July 3, 1964.
  • May 2010 — Ari Picker’s masterful project Lost In The Trees has reworked Time Taunts Me for reissue later this summer on Trekky Records. It was a total thrill to master such a brilliant record!
  • April 2010 — I finished mastering an EP for Winston Troy in time to send her on tour.  Go see her if she’s traveling through your town. The handcrafted packaging on her CDs is gorgeous, and the music will give you chills.
  • March 2010 — A stellar reissue from Acute Records (which I mastered from vinyl): The Method Actors This Is Still It.
  • March 2010 — Lagos Disco Inferno sold out in pre-release! I mastered these tracks from an amazing collection of vinyl.
  • January 22, 2010 — Clyde Carter Thompson is born!  I’m on maternity leave but still doing a bit of mastering here and there.  Back full force in April or May.
  • January 2010 — Just in time to give birth to my son, I finished mastering a collection of concerts from the Ash Grove archive for Wolfgang’s Vault. Some of my favorites: a young Jackie DeShannon with Ry Cooder, Kathy and Carol, Merle Travis, Doc and Merle Watson (check out Doc’s Talkin’ Blues!) and so many more amazing concerts!
  • December 2009 — I mastered Little Miracles for the lovely Kim Taylor and the self-titled debut of Chris Riffle, both records produced by the incomparable Jimi Zhivago.
  • December 2009 — The incredibly talented multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Ryat brought her new record Street Noise Orkestra to me for mastering. Ryat is on tour – do not miss her if she comes to your city!
  • November 2009 — I restored and mastered this sizzling hot compilation of Nigerian disco heat from the original vinyl for Academy LPs.
  • August 2009 — In the mood for some folk and blues?  Check out the Ash Grove archive, now streaming on Wolfgang’s Vault, which features live recordings from concerts held at the Ash Grove in Los Angeles back in the 1960s.  Lightnin’ Hopkins, Mance Lipscomb, Merle Travis, Doc Watson, Bessie Jones – the artists that came through that club are epic, and the concerts are killer.  I have been busy mastering many of these concerts all summer, and there are hundreds more to come!
  • July 2009 — Canteloupe Music is releasing three gorgeous EPs by French composer Florent Ghys, mastered by yours truly.
  • June 2009 — A worthwhile and refreshing change of pace from working on music, I mixed and sound designed several hundred educational videos for teachers, parents and caregivers of children on the autism spectrum for the newly launched website Rethink Autism.  And the voiceover artist for most of those videos?  C’est moi aussi!
  • May 2009 — My savvy use of fart foley and verbed out dream sequences earned me the Best Sound Design award for the film Birchwood in the 2009 New York Film Race.
  • March 2009 — Hip Hop Hoodios‘ new album Carne Masada, which I mastered, cracked the top 10 on the iTunes Latino charts, and is chock full of thick beats, catchy hooks, and rhymes that are both hilarious and socially-conscious.
  • February 2009 – I was an assistant engineer on the recording sessions for the New York Path to Peace album – utterly raucous, uplifting and inspiring.
  • January 2009 – Watch for the latest sampler from the always excellent Brassland label, featuring The National, Doveman, Nico Muhly, Erik Friedlander and many more, mastered by me.
  • December 2008 — Pick up a copy of Tape Op No. 68 (Nov / Dec 2008). I co-wrote a review of the Antelope OCX master clock and 10M rubidium reference generator with fellow Brooklynite engineer Allen Farmelo.
  • October 2008 – I mastered Stephen Painter’s Dark Sunny Land, a mesmerizing soundscape and a true pleasure to work on.
  • September 2008 — What does a very picky audio engineer think of simulated 5.1 surround sound? I helped review home theater soundbars for Money Magazine.
  • August 2008 — I provided my “mixing expertise” to MC Frontalot for his upcoming album Final Boss.
  • August 2008 – I also helped the ARChive of Contemporary Music digitize some absolutely stunning cover art of LPs, 45s and 78s for the Grammy Foundation.
  • July 2008 — Documentary producer Negin Farsad brought the soundtrack to Nerdcore Rising to me for mastering. It features Nerdcore godfather MC Frontalot, G Minor 7, Doc Popular and a corral of talented musicians.
  • April 2008 — I worked with video artist Phyllis Baldino to clean up and master the audio for her documentary about environmental artist Nancy Holt’s Sun Tunnels.
